Distributing Cloth
Distributing clothes to the needy and underprivileged people remains the primary objective of Uttaran. This initiative aims to provide clothing to underprivileged people who cannot afford to buy them. We collect donated clothes from individuals and organizations and then distribute them to the beneficiaries. The distribution program is done regularly to ensure that the beneficiaries have access to clean and decent clothing. To date, more than a thousand people got benefitted from our initiative. This initiative not only provides a basic necessity to the underprivileged but also helps in reducing the waste generated by discarding clothes that are still wearable. Overall, this is a noble initiative that helps in promoting social welfare and sustainability.
Distributing Grocery and Food Items
Grocery and food are necessities of life. Access to nutritious and sufficient food is essential for maintaining good health and well-being, and lack of access can lead to hunger, malnutrition, and various health problems. Addressing this issue, Uttaran organizes a program for distributing grocery and food items to the needy which benefitted more than 100 people to date. We aim to provide basic food necessities to underprivileged individuals and families who are facing food insecurity due to poverty or other circumstances. Through this initiative, we try to alleviate hunger and promote nutrition among vulnerable communities and promote social welfare, and highlight the importance of community involvement in addressing societal challenges.
Distributing Masks and Hand Soap
During the COVID-19 pandemic, face masks and hand soap have become essential items in preventing the spread of the virus. Wearing a face mask and practicing good hand hygiene can significantly reduce the risk of contracting or transmitting the virus. In response to this need, Uttaran is organizing a program to distribute face masks and hand soap to underprivileged individuals who may not have access to these items. By distributing these items regularly, we are promoting the importance of using them to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and ultimately protect public health.
Oxygen Service
Oxygen is an essential element for life, necessary for respiration and the proper functioning of bodily organs. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the need for oxygen has become even more critical as patients with severe symptoms require oxygen therapy to recover. In response to this urgent need, Uttaran launched an oxygen service to provide support to patients in need. we took the responsibility to provide oxygen cylinders and refills free of cost to patients, ensuring that they had access to this essential resource during a time of crisis. The oxygen service provided by our organization has benefitted many patients in Burdwan Block 1, helping them recover from the effects of COVID-19. In the future, we have a plan to expand the oxygen service to other areas in need, providing access to this critical resource to those who need it most.
Sanitizing Service
Sanitizing is the process of cleaning and disinfecting surfaces to eliminate harmful bacteria and viruses. During the COVID-19 pandemic, sanitizing has become crucial in preventing the spread of the virus. Uttaran has taken the initiative to provide sanitizing services to public areas to ensure the safety and well-being of the community. This program involved disinfecting public spaces such as parks, marketplaces, and hospitals, with a focus on high-traffic areas. Our organization used specialized equipment and disinfectant solutions to ensure effective sanitization, providing peace of mind to the community during the pandemic.
Donation to Wb Cm Relief Fund
The COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on public health, and healthcare systems around the world have been overwhelmed by the surge in cases. Donations to support COVID-19 relief efforts are critical in ensuring that medical professionals have access to the necessary resources and equipment to fight the pandemic and mitigate its impact on vulnerable communities. Uttaran has donated to the West Bengal Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to support efforts in fighting against the COVID-19 pandemic. The fund is used to provide essential medical supplies, including personal protective equipment (PPE), oxygen concentrators, and other medical equipment to hospitals and healthcare facilities in the state. Our donation is a significant contribution to these efforts and helps to address the urgent needs of those affected by the pandemic in the state.
A Help for Helpless
Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, our organization has worked to support the underprivileged by distributing essential items such as winter garments, food, medicine, masks, and sanitizers. Uttaran aims at helping those who have been hit hardest by the pandemic, including individuals who may not have the means to access these necessities. Through this program, we are making a valuable contribution towards ensuring the well-being and safety of the less fortunate during these challenging times.
Arrangement of Scholarship for D.El.Ed and B.Ed Students
Uttaran has also taken responsibility to arrange scholarships for D.El.Ed and B.Ed students, to provide financial support and reduce the burden of educational expenses. This effort is intended to help deserving students achieve their academic aspirations and attain a brighter future. By providing these scholarships (about 80%- 90%of total course fees), we are striving towards building a more educated and empowered society, where individuals have equal access to educational opportunities regardless of their financial circumstances.
Saptahik Annyasatra
Uttaran is organizing a weekly lunch program called “Saptahik Annyasatra” for poor beggars in the Mirzapur area. The initiative aims to provide a much-needed meal to those who do not have access to regular food and nourishment. This program is a manifestation of our commitment to assisting the marginalized and underprivileged population and enhancing their welfare. The initiative underscores the significance of community engagement and social accountability in addressing the adversities encountered by disadvantaged communities.
Muktopathsala
We have initiated “Muktopathsala,” a weekend schooling program for impoverished children in Tentulia, Mirzapur. Through this program, we aim to provide education and learning opportunities to underprivileged children who may not have access to regular schooling. As of now, 30 students from Muktopathsala Unit-1 and 50 students from Muktopathsala Unit-ii have benefited from this initiative, helping to bridge the educational gap and empowering them to build a better future for themselves.
Tree Plantation and Sapling Distributing
To promote reforestation and ecological conservation, Uttaran has launched a tree plantation and sapling distribution program in Dewandighi, Purba Bardhaman. The program involves distributing 100 saplings to nearby areas of Bardhaman Block 1 and the surrounding regions. This initiative emphasizes the critical role of trees in maintaining ecological balance and highlights the need for community participation in preserving and protecting the natural environment.
Survey Program
Uttaran has also initiated a survey program in underdeveloped areas surrounding Mirzapur to identify the problems faced by the community. Our main aim is to gather information to address the issues faced by the residents and provide necessary assistance. Our organization is committed to helping the community to the best of its ability, demonstrating its dedication to improving the lives of underprivileged populations.
